Premium Zeolite Media Ammonia Rocks
H2O PRO Ammonia Rocks are recommended to be added to your filter on the first day you setup your Aquarium. The initial setup is where there is the highest chance of getting an 'Ammonia Spike' due to the addition of fish and a lack of bacteria otherwise known as 'New Tank Syndrome'. Ammonia Rocks also raise Oxygen levels, reduce Nitrates and prevent odours.

The Importance of Quality Filter Media
Quality filter media plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of aquarium fish and the overall environment within the tank. The filter media serves as the primary mechanism for removing physical debris, toxins and harmful substances from the water. There are different types of filter media, each with its specific function, including mechanical, biological and chemical filtration.
Mechanical filter media captures debris, uneaten food and waste particles, preventing them from polluting the water and creating harmful conditions for fish. Biological filter media provides surface area for beneficial bacteria to thrive, which are essential for breaking down toxic ammonia and nitrites produced by fish waste into less harmful nitrates. This natural process, known as the nitrogen cycle, is fundamental to the health of the tank. Without sufficient biological filtration, toxic substances can quickly build up, leading to poor water quality and stress for the fish.
Chemical filter media, such as activated carbon, helps absorb impurities, odours, and chemicals, further enhancing water quality. Together, these filtration processes ensure that aquarium water remains clean, clear and safe for fish. High-quality filter media not only reduces the risk of disease and stress in fish but also creates a more stable and balanced aquatic environment, promoting healthy growth, vibrant colours and overall wellbeing of the tank inhabitants.
